Pack Repair
Canvas or Cordura® Tears & Holes.
Use contact adhesive and a similar fabric to make a patch internally. This makes for a stronger and more waterproof repair than stitching. Be aware that for absorbant fabrics, you may need to use several layers of contact adhesive. Take the time to round the corners of the patch.
Lightweight PU-Coated Fabric Tears & Holes.
Use self-adhesive sail-marking fabric off-cuts, available from any sail-maker, often at low or no cost. Round the corners of the patch.
Re-Proofing Canvas Packs.
A range of commercially available treatments are available for re-proofing canvas. We advise using them even on new packs. Ensure that the proofing soaks into stitching, zip flange tapes, and webbing attachment points. Some products use mineral turpentine as a solvent - avoid skin contact or inhalation, and ensure that the pack is hung in a dry, well ventilated place for several days after treatment. Use a spray bottle to saturate the pack (allow to soak completely through the fabric).
